Ingredients
- 150g skinless, boneless cod fillet
- 250g sweet potato, peeled and cubed
- 100g frozen peas
- 15ml extra virgin olive oil
- 1 sprig fresh dill (optional)
- 60–120ml water or unsalted vegetable broth, for thinning
Instructions
- Place the cubed sweet potato in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam for about 10–12 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork.
- Add the cod fillet and frozen peas to the steamer basket with the sweet potato. Cover again and steam for another 5–7 minutes, until the cod is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Carefully transfer the cooked sweet potato, cod, and peas to a blender. Add the olive oil and fresh dill (if using).
- Blend the mixture until smooth. Add water or unsalted broth, a little at a time, until you reach a consistency appropriate for your baby's stage.
- Allow the purée to cool to a safe temperature before serving. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze in portions.
Tips & Substitutions
- Texture control: For younger babies, blend until silky smooth; for older babies, leave a few soft bits for texture.
- Swap the fish: You can use hake, haddock, or pollock if cod isn’t available—just ensure it’s boneless and fully cooked.
- Extra flavor: Add a pinch of mild herbs like parsley or basil to gently enhance the taste without overwhelming little palates.
